Wireless Charging of Nokia Lumia 800 Now Possible

ESPOO, Finland – Users who ever owned a Palm/HP device were aware that there is the Touchstone charger, able to power the device wirelessly. Oli Gill was able to modify the Nokia Lumia 800 to charge with the same device.

The whole process takes around 12 hours and requires more than basic technical skills, but the benefit of not having to open the charging port of the Lumia 800 may be enough for some people to try and accomplish the same result. The basic idea is to connect the receiving part internally with the USB charging port of the phone. The trick is not to mix up the cables and to manage to get the charge to the phone.

As it is visible from the video, the Lumia 800 is able to recognize the charging and to engage a data connection through the Palm charger in both portrait and landscape position, which makes it possible to watch videos, play games and browse the Internet while charging.
