WikiTude Takes Augmented Reality to S60 Smartphones

SALZBURG, Austria – The latest version of augmented reality (AR) browser Wikitude is now compatible to many S60 smartphones, bringing next-generation features to current handhelds.

The app is for the first time available to non-touchscreen phones, bringing more than 200 geo-coded information tags, derived from several services, such as Flickr, Qype, Wikipedia, and YouTube.

Although it might not be able to demonstrate information in a fast manner, it gives users a glimpse of what faster processors may do.

Just like the iPhone version, the Symbian app should also make use of devices’ GPS and digital compass components, in order to determine what the camera is seeing.

Wikitude 4.0 may be downloaded at the Ovi Store in the coming days.
