Vodafone Smart Tabs Released in South Africa, Pack Android

Vodacom Vodafone Smart Tab ZTEJOHANNESBURG, South Africa – Vodacom has revealed two new Android-powered Vodafone Smart Tabs of 7-inch and 10-inch in South Africa.

The tablets pack a 1.2GHz dual-core Snapdragon S3 processor and run on Android Honeycomb 3.2. The Smart Tabs have a built-in 3G HSPA and also allow Wi-Fi connectivity.

The Vodafone Smart Tabs have a WXGA display and feature a rear-facing camera of 5MP and a front-facing camera of 2MP. They have an internal memory space of 16 GB and a micro SD slot which allows memory expansion of  up to 32GB. The tablets are said to have a long battery life.

The devices also feature built-in contents such as QuickOffice Pro, Dropbox, Twitter, e-mail and instant messaging, besides the standard apps from Android Market.

The Vodafone Smart Tabs can be purchased from Vodacom outlets. The prices for the Tabs are R3 699 prepaid and R4 699 prepaid for 7-inch and 10-inch, respectively. However, the Tabs are also available on MyMeg500, MyGig1 and MyGig2 contracts.

While the Tabs in Germany were released in November 2011, and have the same specifications and features, the only difference is the 1.2GHz dual-core Qualcomm Processor and built-in 3G HSDPA.
