T-Mobile Sidekick Rises from the Ashes

T-Mobile Sidekick 4GBELLEVUE, USA – The servers that powered the T-Mobile Sidekick brand are being shut down. Many saw this coming as most have abandoned the devices in favor of more powerful newer devices such as the iPhone and Android powered smartphones.

However, T-Mobile is no stranger to Android being the carrier to launch the first major Android powered device, the T-Mobile G1. So it only makes sense that T-Mobile would put the OS they helped launch into their failing brand of signature phones. With the help of Samsung, they are doing just that. The T-Mobile Sidekick 4G will be powered by the Android 2.2 and made by Samsung, who is loading this new generation with a 1Ghz Cortex A8 Hummingbird processor and 3.5 inch touch screen and front facing camera for video chat.

The device looks like an update version of the old school Sidekicks. It still features a great looking full QWERTY keyboard which has keys that are spaced nicely apart. Group text and Cloud text are two great features that allows you to have group conversations with options like reply all. Thanks to being equipped with 4G the device will be great to use with the T-Mobile TV, which features live and on demand programming, Slacker Radio and of course YouTube. As with most Android devices, the Sidekick 4G will have access to the app market and such apps as Google Maps.

The T-Mobile Sidekick 4G is expected to launch late this Spring with pricing still unknown. We will see if this great looking reboot will breathe life back into T-Mobile’s franchise phone.
