T-Mobile Garmin Asus GarminfoneBELLEVUE, USA – The T-Mobile Garminfone has finally made it to the market. The device runs on Google Android 1.6 with a custom user interface on top of it, and is an offering by one of the world’s-largest navigation system manufacturers, Garmin.

The Garminfone allows for complete turn-by-turn navigation with a user interface good enough to replace dedicated navigation units.

The interface has been designed by Garmin to complement its existing navigation unit range. Priced at US$199.99 after a US$50 rebate on a two-year contract, the Garmin-Asus handset is packed full of navigation centric goodies. However, users looking to buy the device only for its navigation capabilities might want to consider that Google Navigation is available for free in North America , Europe and Canada.

Garmin is a specialist in Global Positioning System (GPS) products. It has been manufacturing consumer, aviation, marine GPS tech products since 1989. The Garmin Nuvifone was developed in collaboration with Asus.
