Sony Ericsson Xperia Play USA VerizonBASKING RIDGE, USA – The long awaited PlayStation phone, the Sony Ericsson Xperia Play, is finally headed to the US market via Verizon Wireless.

Starting May 26th, the Android 2.3 Gingerbread-based smartphone will be available for pre-order on Verizon. The pricing has been set at US$199 on contract. The Xperia Play is the world’s first phone with dedicated slide-out gaming keys for a superior gaming experience.

The Xperia Play specs list show that it is powered by a 1GHz Snapdragon processor which along with the Adreno 205 graphics chip is capable of outputting high-graphic content. The highlight of the phone is its slide out design that reveals a Playstation style gamepad.

Sony Ericsson has branded the Xperia Play as a Playstation Experience device that means that it will have access to a separate repository of Playstation One games and others that have been optimized for this same handset. Several games including Asphalt are bundled in with the handset so that users can start playing instantly without making any purchase.
