Consumer Electronics Show, LAS VEGAS, USA - The new range of Xperia smartphones announced by Sony during its press conference at CES included the Xperia S and the Xperia Ion, whilst for the Japanese market it will be releasing the Xperia Acro HD and the Xperia NX.
This year at the International CES there have been a number of new products launched by many of the major companies in the electronics industry and this has included Sony announcing its new range of Sony Xperia smartphones.
The Xperia ion is the first LTE-enabled Xperia smartphone in the Sony range and will only be available on the AT&T network in the US. The Xperia S is being classed as the next generation of smartphones by Sony and will be the first of its Xperia NXT series.
In terms of specification both model are quite similar with a 1.5GHz dual-core processor, a 12 megapixel camera and are both PlayStation Certified. The main difference is the display which is a 4.6 inch HD Reality Display on the Xperia Ion and a 4.3 inch HD Reality Display in the Xperia S.
For the Japanese market users will be getting the Xperia acro HD, which is an updated Xperia acro model and a variant of the Xperia S model called the Xperia NX.
The Xperia S is expected to release in the first quarter of 2012 and the Xperia ion should appear in shop during the second quarter of this year.
