Sony Announces S1, S2 Tablets Based on Android

Sony S1 S2 tabletsMINATO, Japan РThe new Sony tablets to be available in the fall of 2011 will feature two form factors, including the Sony S1, optimized for rich media entertainment, and the Sony S2, designed for mobile communication and entertainment.

The Sony S1 features a 9.4 inch display screen with a resolution of 1280 x 800 pixels resolution, powered by the Nvidia Tegra 2 processor, with 512MB RAM, and 32GB in storage capacity.

The S2 tablet features dual display and it is PlayStation certified. When playing games one of the display will act as a control unit or virtual joystick which gives better gaming experience overall. Both screens measure 5.5 inches in size with a resolution of 1240 x 480 pixels.

Both support 3G and 4G connectivity, as well as DLNA support. The S1 tablet has a unique design similar to a folded magazine which should help users to grip and carry the tablet quite comfortably. The Sony S2 is claimed to be pretty portable with has a foldable design that can be easily slipped in one’s coat pockets.

The Sony S1 and Sony S2 tablet will be available in Autumn this year in US and worldwide, their announced prices in US, for the S1 is US$599 and for the S2 is US$699.
