3D Sharp phonesOSAKA, Japan – Sharp has become the first mobile phone manufacturer to launch a glass-less 3D phone, and it showcased nothing less than three at a press conference in Akasaka, Tokyo.

Besides five smartphones for the three Japanese network operators, Sharp also demonstrated twelve feature-phones, an ebook reader, and two tablets. The devices have been announced previously, but it is the first time a joint event is held by the company. The main items of attraction are, of course, the Lynx SH-03C for NTT DoCoMo, and the 003SH and 005SH Galapagos phones for SoftBank, which make up the 3D line-up.

NTT DoCoMo’s Lynx SH-03C features a 3.8″ LCD 3D touchscreen with VGA resolution (640×480 pixels), a 9.6 megapixel camera with autofocus and 3D mode, and runs on Google Android 2.2 Froyo.

The Sharp Galapagos 3D series is also based on Google Android 2.2 Froyo; the 003SH offering 3G connectivity, a 3.8″ multi-touch display with Wide-VGA resolution, a 9.6 megapixel camera with autofocus and HD video recording support, 400MB of internal storage, Wi-Fi and GPS connectivity, and is powered by a 1GHz Snapdragon processor. It will be available in red, black or white colour from early December.

The Sharp Galapagos 005SH has the same 3.8″ glass-less 3D multi-touch display with Wide-VGA resolution, but more internal storage, at 512MB, and an 8 megapixel camera.
