Samsung Halo i8520 Google Android Projector PhoneMobile World Congress, BARCELONA, Spain – Samsung has had a very successful show at Barcelona this week, but the manufacturer is not over yet as the announcements just keep on coming. In the latest round, the South Korean giant announced more entrants in its Monte range of devices and has announced a new projector phone, the i8520.

The Samsung i8520 is equipped with an internal memory of 2GB or 16GB (two versions), which can be further expanded if necessary. As the device is equipped with full 3G support and Wi-Fi, the user can always connect to the internet if they wish to project something from the worldwide web. The device runs on Google Android 2.1,marking the first Android handset with a projector from a major player in the market.

The projector phone market is very niche but it is nice to see innovation from major manufacturers such as Samsung. This phone can be very handy while giving out a presentation as all the user would require is the cell phone and a wall. Other specifications include an 8 megapixel camera with autofocus, stereo FM radio and a 3.7″ AMOLED touchscreen display.

The announcements concerning the Monte collection include the C3200 and C2550, two entry-level mobile phones.

The C3200, which is a candy-bar phone, is just a basic device with everything the Average Joe needs when he is on his way. Of course, the user can make calls with the device, but also pay a quick visit to the internet or shoot a photo with the integrated 2 megapixel camera.

The Samsung C2550 Monte Slider is, as the name suggests, a compact slider device. A stylish and simple device, with a keypad that is comfortable enough to allow for easy typing of messages. When the user wishes to search for something on the internet, its GPRS connection will allow that, and for shooting  photos, one can use the 1.3 megapixel camera at the back..

The new entry-level phones from Samsung have come to upgrade its offering, as it is habitual with all manufacturers, every year, offering that additional feature available at a lower cost, as technology progresses.

The introduction of another mobile phone carrying a pico projector should mean that Samsung wishes to push this component in the entire industry, where it already faces competition from LG, with its eXpo.
