Samsung Galaxy S III Approved for Enterprise Use, Delayed in Canada

TORONTO, Canada – The Samsung Galaxy S III will include the new SAFE (Samsung Approved for Enterprise) data security system in order to answer the demand of safer Android-based mobile devices for the vital data of the enterprises.

The SAFE system will support AES-256 bit encryption, VPN and Mobile Device Management (MDM) functionality, 338 IT policies, enhanced support for Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync, and mobile virtualization technology.

The goal of the SAFE system is encouraging of the BYOD (bring your own device) market, which offers the option for employees to use their personal devices for work purposes. This currently is a fear for businesses, as vital data may end up on insecure devices, especially with the high fragmentation of the Android OS. Samsung also plans a SAFE2SWITCH program which hopes to get users of rival devices to trade in their handset for a Galaxy S III.

The high demand for the Galaxy S III, however, led the company to delay the release of the phone in Canada for a week. The phone has already more than 9 million carrier pre-orders and Samsung is forcing up production to meet this unpredicted global demand. The Galaxy S III will be available in Canada at June 27th.
