Report: iOS Apps Crash More than Android

SAN FRANCISCO, USA – In a recent study made with 23 versions of iOS and 33 versions of Android for 15 days by the company Crittercism, it was unwrapped  that iOS crashes more frequently than Android with the average percentage floating between 0,51% to 3,66%, while Android scored between 0,15% and 2,97%.

The most unstable version of iOS was the newly released 5.0.1 with 28,64% of the crashes, followed by iOS 4.2.1 and iOS 4.3.3 with more than 10% each. The most crash-prone version of Android proved to be Android 2.3.3 and Android 2.3.4 with 3,86% and 3,65% of the crashes counted.

On the stable side of things Crittercism found iOS 3.2 and iOS 3.2.2 with no crashes followed by iOS versions 5.1, 4.2 and 4.2.7 that are scoring less than 0,03% crashes, while in Android we find only two versions scoring equally at 0,05% – Android 3.2 and Android 2.2.3.followed by Android 3.1 and Android 2.3.2 with under 0.10%.

The study clearly shows that iOS is more likely to be either very stable or very unstable, while Android crashes in a more predictable fashion.
