Nokia Releases Asha 308 and 309, Plots New Windows Phones

Nokia Lumia 510 GloryESPOO, Finland – Nokia has released the new Asha 308 and 309 with dual-SIM support, and is planning new low-end handsets based on Windows Phone 7.8.

Nokia Glory, officially called Nokia Lumia 510, is one of the rumoured devices that has passed through certification of the Telecommunication Equipment Certification Center in China, along with its specifications, which were also revealed. Powered by an 800MHz Qualcomm MSM7227A processor, it supports WP7.5 and WP7.8. It has 256MB of RAM and a 4-inch LCD display. Other specifications list a 5MP camera and support for GSM, WCDMA and HSPA networks. It weighs 129g only and is about 11.5mm thick.

Meanwhile, Nokia officialy announced the latest additions in its Series 40 line of phones. The Nokia Asha 308 and Nokia Asha 309 will be the most economic devices of the company, featuring full touchscreen control. The devices will feature a 3.0” WQVGA capacitive display with multiple homescreens, and up to 32GB microSD card support. The Nokia Asha 309 will accept a single SIM and carry Wi-Fi, while the Nokia Asha 308 will be a dual-SIM phone.

In addition to the new Asha phones, Nokia introduced an update of the Xpress Browser with Nearby and Life+ web apps, extended with a new tool that makes it easier to build new web-based applications.
