The Nokia Lumia 1020 has been launched in South Africa, and it very clearly seems that Nokia is all set to take mobile phone photography to the next level.

Nokia Lumia 1020 PureView-4

Nokia has said that the camera of Nokia Lumia 1020 is supposed to capture more details than the human eye can see. Nokia’s PureView technology, coupled with optical image stabilization (OIS), will enable users to capture finest details like that of a professional digital camera.

The manufacturer, whose Devices and Services division is now owned by Microsoft, has embedded a dual-capture feature in the Nokia Lumia 1020 that takes two different pictures of the same view – One with 38 megapixel resolution in RAW DNG format and the other with 5 megapixel resolution in JPEG for online uploads. The lens unit is built by ZEISS optics, supported with six physical lenses that enables users to get crystal-clear pictures, according to Nokia. Moreover the Nokia Rich Recording provides authentic audio recording.

The Nokia Lumia 1020 has been released in South Africa at both Vodacom and MTN networks, for contract prices starting at R399 per month, in either yellow, black and white colours.
