Nokia Music+ESPOO, Finland – Handset maker Nokia unveiled Nokia Music+, a subscription-based music service for Nokia Lumia Windows Phone device owners.

Offered for $3.99 monthly in the U.S., and EUR 3.99 internationally, Music+ provides unlimited downloads, lyrics, higher quality streams, and a web app.

The latter allows paying members to play Mixes on their computers, smart TV or other connected screens.

Taking on music service Spotify, Music+’s free version allows members to download up to four “mixes” – each continuing hours of music — and play them without an internet connection. The paid service removes this limit, thus such users will be able to download a massive supply of offline music.

Announced by Nokia at the Midem music industry conference, Music+ will be available in the first quarter in 24 countries where Nokia Music is available. Users can subscribe to the service through in-app purchase using a credit card.

Nokia, which used to be the world’s largest smartphone vendor, has recently announced that it plans to cut its yearly dividend reimbursement for the first time in over 20 years to improve its cash position amid decreasing sales.
