Nokia Messaging on E71STUTTGART, Germany – Nokia and mobile operator Telecom Italia has announced a joint venture to simplify the use of the Nokia Messaging service for Telecom Italia’s users.

Nokia Messaging was first launched as the “Nokia E-mail Service” in 2008 and has since been included in the Nokia Messaging service. It features push e-mail so that users can receive e-mails automatically and acts as a bridge between the mobile phone and the users’ e-mail server, allowing online storage of messages.

The new offer in co-operation with Telecom Italia is designed to minimize configuration and allows users to enter only their e-mail address and password and be ready to go. The service integrates with local e-mail providers such as alice.it, TIN.it and virgilio.it. Support for global providers such as Gmail, Yahoo and Hotmail is also included. Once configured. the service will push e-mails directly to the homescreen of users’ mobile phones.

The service will offer different price schemes for private users as well as business users. The announced plans so far are daily use for EUR1 a day – suited for occasional business users – and the private MAXXI Mail which will include 1GB of online storage and unlimited e-mails at EUR4 a month.

Support is announced for around 30 different Nokia devices, including popular models such as the Nokia E75, Nokia E55, Nokia N97, Nokia E71 and Nokia N95 8GB. The service will be available from the middle of September.
