Traditional means of communication are handled well on the 808 PureView. Call quality is excellent both in terms of signal, and ear-piece clarity. Messaging via SMS and MMS is also a decent experience. The message viewer supports message threads sorted by contacts, though there is the traditional folder-view present.

Email on the Nokia 808 is better than on any other previous Symbian devices. For once, the mail client actually obeys the intervals set for polling. One annoyance is that only a single Exchange account is supported. One would have hoped that at least with the partnership with Microsoft and a suite of apps tailor-made for Belle this irritation would be sorted by now. Exchange is solid, delivering email often times quicker than on my Android device. Calendar and contacts were copied over successfully and I had no sync issues even while syncing first three, then four separate devices. The calendar sync has limitations with only the primary calendar synced when using a cloud service. Again this is annoying, where like me, you may have separate work and personal calendars, and I also subscribe to other calendars, and keeping these events in their own silos works for me. Of course, there are third-party options, but other OSs do this natively.

Quickoffice is available for the 808 PureView, but with a single update through Nokia Suite, one can get the latest Microsoft Apps including Office Mobile, Lyc 2010, Powerpoint Broadcast and OneNote. These ran poorly on older Symbian devices but feel right at home on the more-powerful 808. Unfortunately, the sub-standard keyboard makes using these apps cumbersome but they are more than adequate as viewers.
