New Developments in Apple-Samsung Battle

ASA iPhone Galaxy S II thinnestLONDON, UK – Apple boasted of having the thinnest smartphone in the world to its name, in the form of the iPhone 4. This claim was soon challenged by Samsung claiming its Galaxy S II was the thinnest.

Theoretically, the iPhone 4 has a uniform design which measures a thickness of 9.3mm all-over, while the Galaxy S II’s few parts are as thin as 8.71mm and is indeed thinner than the iPhone 4, But there is a catch here as Galaxy S II’s few parts also measure in at 9.91mm thick making it thicker than the all-uniform 9.3mm thickness of the iPhone 4. This is where the Advertising Standards Authority step in and cleared the confusion.

Samsung and Apple have just not learnt to keep away, and are always on a look-out to out-do each other, in this context Apple gave the following statement, “Apple said consumers would not be interested in the thinnest part of the device, but in its overall measurements, as these would, for example, affect whether the device could fit into a pocket or purse”.

ASA agreed with Apple “because the iPhone 4’s thickest point was thinner than the thickest point of the Samsung Galaxy S II” – and the complaint was dismissed.
