LG Optimus 3D hands-onMobile World Congress, BARCELONA, Spain – The big highlight of the ongoing event is undoubtedly the LG Optimus 3D, an Android smartphone with glass-less 3D playback and recording.

PhoneReport has witnessed it, and it is true. No glasses required 3D playback, through either capture from the own phone, content transferred from mass storage, or – a launch inside a launch – YouTube 3D videos.

This is a true, extremely powerful rival to the Samsung Galaxy S II, bringing even better images than the smartphone announced last night. The also-South-Korean-manufacturer brought strong internal specifications, comprising of what it calls a “tri-dual configuration”, joining dual-core, dual-channel and dual-memory architecture (Texas Instruments OMAP4).

Like the LG Optimus Pad, this device also counts with a 5 megapixel dual-camera set-up, enabling it to capture both 3D video, store it on the 8GB internal storage system, and displaying it on the 4.3″ touchscreen display with 1280×768 pixels in resolution.

The top-of-the-line components will allow for playback of full HD 1080p video as well as its recording; graphic-intensive 3D games, as well as multi-tasking.

The handset runs on Google Android 2.2 Froyo at the moment, but is upgradable to Android 2.3 Gingerbread.
