LG Optimus G Pro Vu II F5 F7 L Series IIMobile World Congress, BARCELONA – South Korean device-maker LG unveiled a wide array of new Android smartphones, the world’s smallest wireless charger, a Windows 8 tablet with built-in keyboard, and will likely launch webOS TVs soon.

LG showcased at the Barcelona, Spain trade-show the LG Optimus G Pro, LG Optimus F5 and LG Optimus F7, and the second generation of the L series of handsets.

The Optimus F5 and F7 are 4-inch-plus mid-range devices that have the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean software, LTE connectivity and dual-core chips. The Optimus L devices retain the affordable pricing of the first-generation models although they incorporate new design elements.

The company’s LII smartphones, the Optimus L3, Optimus L5 and Optimus L7, are affordable Android devices with 3G and what LG calls four new design elements: “Seamless Layout, Laser Cut Contour, Radiant Rear Design and a home button with Smart LED Lighting”.

The Optimus G Pro is the brand’s newest flagship device, featuring a huge 5.5-inch display and powerful 1.7 GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 processor.

Meanwhile, LG will be purchasing Hewlett-Packard’s webOS operating system for a still-undisclosed price, according to an announcement by HP.

HP bought the webOS business from Palm in 2010 for $1.2 billion, but its first webOS tablet, the HP TouchPad, failed to gain any ground in the iPad-dominated tablet arena. LG will use webOS to power its Internet-connected Smart TVs.
