REDMOND, USA – Windows Mobile 7, Microsoft’s repeatedly-delayed smartphone operating system, is rumoured to make an appearance at the Mobile World Congress next week in Barcelona. The Microsoft-branded Zune media player has been a critical success even though the market share pales in comparison to Apple’s market share.

Now Microsoft aims to combine its hardware and software brand to create its first self-branded smartphone. Editorial director at MuyComputer Javier PĂ©rez Cortijo says that “the Zune Phone presentation at Barcelona’s Mobile World Congress 2010 is 100% confirmed”. His blog also claims that Microsoft will present the Zune Phone this month, at the same event. According to them, it’s 100% confirmed. Since the phone will use the Tegra graphics chip, nVidia will team with Microsoft for the anti-JesusPhone debut.

According to the same source, the device will have a touchscreen display with 480×272 pixels in resolution, HDMI video-out, and will weigh around 70 grams.
