LG X3 Nvidia Tegra 3 quad-coreSEOUL, South Korea – The use of dual-core processors in smartphones was something that became very popular during 2011 but it would appear that 2012 is set to be the year of the quad-core processor with the HTC Edge/Endeavor, possibly the impending Samsung Galaxy S III and in the first half of this year the new LG X3 coming with this new technology.

Surprisingly the LG X3 is expected to be less than 9mm thick even though it will be coming with the quad-core Nvidia Tegra 3 processor and a huge 4.7 inch 1280 x 720 high resolution touchscreen display.

Other expected features include a data storage capacity of 16GB with the option to upgrade it using its microSD slot, an 8 megapixel rear facing camera and a 1.3 megapixel front facing camera. Like so many other smartphones that are due to launch this year it will also come with the latest Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich pre-installed.

For data access the LG X3 will offer connection speeds of up to 21MBps using an HSPA connection and may even come with the ability to connect to future 4G LTE mobile networks. The handset will also come with Bluetooth connectivity and for high-speed data it will provide Wi-Fi access using 802.11b/g/n for high speed data.

It is believed that the earliest the new LG X3 will be available to buy is around the end of the spring but it may possibly be as late as early summer, although a more firm date may be announced over the next few months.
