Kickstarter Project Brings Polaroid-style Prints to the iPhone

iPhone PolaroidNEW YORK, USA – An innovative device called Impossible Instant Lab wants to bring Polaroid shots to the iPhone.

The device can simply create Polaroid photos using images captured by a user on their iPhones. This Kickstarter project focuses on those who are fond of the classic look and feel of analog cameras, but still prefer the quality and convenience of digital photography.

The Polaroid functionality is accomplished using a special device and a dedicated Impossible app. The user can select a preferred photo through the app and place the iPhone on top of the device, face down. In doing so, the shutter of the device opens up, and the image from the iPhone screen is projected on to the Polaroid film within the device. Just like in old analog cameras, this leads to the gradual development of an old-fashioned photo based on the selected image.

The Impossible Instant Lab is believed to hit the market soon, since it has collected over 80% of the required funding. The regular device is estimated to be priced at $300, while a gold-plated limited edition would be available for $2000. Nevertheless, there are chances that early devices would be available via Kickstarter for around $189.
