iPhone Passcode Can Be Cracked in Less than 2 Minutes

Micro Systemation XRYOSLO, Sweden – As we know it is advisable to password protect any valuable data that we have. This is even more important for an iPhone, on which we have business or personal data, that may be used in an event of stealing or losing the device.

Passcode protection, however, is not that secure as we would expect. Micro Systemation, a Sweden-based developer company has designed a software called XRY, which is able to crack the password security of an iPhone for less than two minutes. XRY uses security flaws in the software of the phone, rather than back-door vulnerabilities used by rooting attackers.

The XRY software is able to access the users’ GPS location history, files, call logs, contacts, messages and even a log of keystrokes in some cases and to dump this data to a PC, decrypt and display it.

The sole purpose of the XRY software is to give give law enforcement and military personnel access to devices belonging to suspected criminals and Micro Systemation offers this software only to legitimate law enforcing officials. The results given by the software, however, are dependent of the complexity of the password used and in cases of very long passcodes, the time needed for the crack may be too long for the law officials to be able to use the data.
