iPhone 5 Rated as the Fastest, but Quality Problems Increase

iPhone 5 scratches aluminiumCUPERTINO, USA – Despite all its high-end features, the new iPhone 5 seems to be receiving some serious accusations since its official release on September 12th.

Although Apple seemed proud of the iPhone 5′s anodized aluminum back, many users now claim that it’s susceptible to scratches and scuffs. A long thread on the MacRumors forum reveals that many users found their iPhones scratched and scuffed right out of the box. The problem is more serious in black models, with the aluminum metal showing through cracks in the slate-colored coating.

Some iPhone 5 units also seem to suffer from light leakage, especially between its chamfered aluminum antenna and glass display. In others, small cracks have been observed under the power button. The leak is noticeable only in the dark and it’s still too early to decide whether it’s an isolated defect.

Nevertheless, benchmark tests have enthroned iPhone 5 as the fastest smartphone on earth. Its A6 processor is ahead of the Snapdragon S4 found in some variants of the Samsung Galaxy S III and the Motorola RAZR M, in terms of memory and stream operations. The iPhone 5 has also obtained higher scores in browser, gaming and graphic performance relative to many other comparable smartphones.
