CUPERTINO, USA – Since the launch of first-generation iPad in April 2010, rumors have been continually stressing that the Cupertino giant will be launching an iPad Mini.
If it was not then, reports from the Far East now suggest that finally Apple may launch the mini device soon.
The main idea for introducing the iPad Mini is said to be providing competition to the upcoming Windows 8 tablets.
According to the Chinese net portal NetEase, the smaller iPad would be priced for about $249 or $299. Considering such low price as $249 for an iPad, it seems the new unit will be directly in competition with low-end Amazon Kindle Fire that launched for $199 in the fourth quarter of last year and took control of market rather quickly.
In February it was claimed that Apple officials have been exhibiting a smaller tablet similar to iPad 2. Nevertheless, the Chinese reports also cautions that Apple might simply be testing new designs and iPad Mini may not exist altogether.
