Nokia N9 MeegoSANTA CLARA, USAIntel is planning to give up development and abandon the MeeGo platform for the time being due to the high rate of disinterest in the platform.

Multiple industry sources are qouting that Intel wants to focus more on the “handsets platforms that can be paired with Android or Windows Phone in 2012”.

MeeGo was a platform earlier adopted by Nokia, and things seems quite on the right track, but then after launching the Nokia N9 on the MeeGo platform, Nokia has announced at launch that the N9 would be the first and only MeeGo device, as it was more focused on Windows Phone devices.

In a recent interview Intel commented that it “remains committed to MeeGo and will continue to work with the community to develop and help meet the needs of customers and end users with open source”.
