SAN LUIS OBISPO, USA – A teardown by experts from iFixit yielded a 1/10 repairability score for the brand new high-end Android smartphone HTC One.

The HTC One is the new flagship from the Taiwan-based smartphone-maker HTC. Its devices are well known for their innovative designs and this one is no exception, but a teardown by iFixit revealed all the key components of the HTC One, including the unibody design of the HTC One, which makes it hard to disassemble and it has a repairability score of 1 out of 10. Here, 10 represent ‘easiest to repair’ and 1 represents ‘very difficult to repair’.

Although the HTC One is difficult to repair, it is very much durable owing to the solid external construction. Most of the key components, including the camera, are surrounded by copper to improve durability. The external casing of the smartphone is made of aluminium and it is quite hard to remove its back panel.

The display of the HTC One cannot be separated without removing its back panel. Hence, it is nearly impossible to replace the display screen in case of damage. Moreover, it is also not possible to replace the battery loaded in this device. The teardown test of the HTC One indicates that it is nearly impossible to repair or replace the components.
