THE HAGUE, Netherlands – KPN, the largest carrier in Netherlands, has just confirmed the existence of the HTC Legend. The mobile carrier has placed a banner on its website announcing the availability of the Legend from March.

As previously reported, the features of HTC Legend include a 3.2″ AMOLED touchscreen display with HVGA resolution, HSPA connectivity, GPS, Wi-Fi, optical mouse, 3.5mm headset jack, 512MB ROM, 256MB RAM, a 5 megapixel camera, and a 600MHz processor. Customers should hope the smartphone comes with Android 2.1 onboard.

The Dutch operator posted the HTC Legend on its site teasing us days before the MWC. It is gone now, but it was on the site just long enough to confirm its existence, along with some of its specs and a release date. KPN posted a page that allowed users to sign up for updates on the phone, so it wasn’t even a pre-order, and the price of the HTC Legend wasn’t listed.

The name “Legend” seems quite appropriate for the successor of the HTC Hero and the fact that the phone was listed as “HTC Legend” on the KPN site suggests that it might just stick.
