Nokia N900 Google Android 2.2. FroyoGLOBAL – The Nokia N900 smartphone continues to impress as being the most open device on the market currently. It runs on Maemo 5, the Debian derivative, and has been hacked to run Android 2.2.

The N900 is well known for allowing users to hack on various different operating systems. Android, which is an open source operating system developed by Google, has been ported once again to the device by using a software called NITDroid.

The software built is not ready yet for everyday use as it lacks the ability to get a cellphone signal. It is also not possible to mount an SD card and IP addresses cannot be obtained automatically over Wi-Fi.

The Nokia N900 has a powerful 600MHz prcessor, it runs Google Android 2.2 quite smoothly, and the browser is extremely fast. It is not recommended for everyday-use.
