Open WebOSGLOBAL – After delivering over 75 webOS components over the last 9 months, the Open webOS project finally released its latest achievement last week, namely Open webOS 1.0.

The 1.0 edition offers full webOS experience through an OE emulator, thanks to its OpenEmbedded build. While retaining support for the desktop build-environment, the new version includes new core features, such as email client and a browser application.

Support for Enyo2 enables webOS 1.0 users to use apps built on cross-platform JavaScript frameworks. Source code for Open webOS is available through Open webOS repositories on GitHub, while new forums have also been launched parallel to the release. The project infrastructure has been improved to include the JIRA bug tracker and integrated login across the website.

The Open webOS project will continue with several webOS enhancements in the future, some of which include open-sourced media and audio components, ConnMan network management, BlueZ Bluetooth stack and an optimized SysMgr rendering architecture.
