Dell Streak 7 4G Tablet Heading to T-Mobile

Dell Streak 7 Android tabletLAS VEGAS, USA – The Dell Streak 7 isn’t a Windows Phone 7 tablet, but it does have a 7″ touchscreen display and Android 2.2, ready to enter its newborn market.

As far as things go, the tablet mark is at a baby stage. There still exists scepticism on whether it could go anywhere, seeing that it creates a new position in the technology market – between smartphones and netbooks – which might not be necessary at all. The Apple iPad, one of the first to launch, had a relatively successful entry, which prompted its rivals to also build their own offers for consumers.

The Dell Streak 7 takes its name from the original 5″ display-featuring Android smartphone, itself seen as a tablet as it contains an unusually large touchscreen display. What’s disappointing about the Streak 7 is that it doesn’t run on Google’s optimised tablet operating system, the upcoming Android 3.0 Honeycomb platform. Instead, it relies on the older Android 2.2 Froyo version, but will probably be upgraded to 2.3 Gingerbread.

Specifications-wise, the Streak 7 is designed for the T-Mobile HSPA+ network, hence receiving the 4G seal. It contains a front-facing 1.3 megapixel camera, 16GB internal storage, and runs on the 1GHz dual-core Nvidia Tegra 2 chip.
