After the official introduction of the new flagship smartphone from LG, the Optimus 4X HD, there are only phones that may be able to tackle its position on the top of the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich devices. This phone is expected from the other major Korean vendor – Samsung, and is still rumored in terms of specifications – the Galaxy S III.
Although the rumors about the specs of the Galaxy S III are still fresh, we are able to say that there will be no weaker points in its hardware, when compared to the LG Optimus 4X HD. On the contrary almost every aspect that means better quality and productivity will be in favor of the Galaxy S III.
Let us have a closer look at several important points. Both phones will have big (4,8/4,7 inch) full HD displays, but the Galaxy S III carries the Super AMOLED Plus technology, while the Optimus 4X HD the weaker IPS LCD. The Optimus 4X HD comes with 1024 MB of RAM, while the Galaxy S III is expected with 2 GB. LTE connectivity will be available for the Galaxy S III, while if users need LTE with LG, there is a specialized LTE version with weaker CPU. Both cameras of the Galaxy S III are expected to capture higher resolutions than the 1.3 MP front and 8 MP rear cameras of the Optimus 4X HD.
The only part of hardware which is still unknown in the Galaxy S III is the CPU unit, as it was earlier rumored to be using dual-core 1.8 GHz CPU, but latest rumors put in it 1.5GHz quad-core Samsung Exynos processor, wich should be a match for the quad-core Tegra 3-powered Optimus 4X HD.
In conclusion, it is only a matter of time the LG Optimus 4X HD to be detroned of its place as most powerful Android 4.0 Ise Cream Sandwich device with the release of the Samsung Galaxy S III.
