Samsung CES 2013 Consumer Electronics ShowLAS VEGAS, USA – After Nvidia’s Tegra 4 and Qualcomm, Samsung has come up with a new chipset model with powerful features. The South Korean giant has introduced the all new Exynos 5, an octa-core processor, at this year’s Consumer Electronics Show.

An 8-core chip might look power-hungry but in reality it is designed to consume low power. This chip switches off power to the cores when they are not used. With this it is possible to consume less power even when performing high-end tasks. As per Samsung’s claims, the Exynos 5 processor can save up to 70% power compared to its prior versions.

The Exynos 5 is designed using ARM’s big.LITTLE architecture, where the eight cores are divided into two clusters of four cores each. One cluster will be Cortex A7 while the other will be Cortex A15, and the big.LITTLE architecture achieves successful paring between the two. Though it is not certain, this processor has a good chance of being featured in Samsung’s upcoming flagship, the Galaxy S IV.
