CES: Panasonic Displays Toughpad – World’s Toughest Android Tablet

Panasonic Toughpad JT B1 Android tabletLAS VEGAS, USA – Panasonic announced the Toughpad JT-B1, which is touted as toughest Android tablet today.

The device-maker claims that the Android Ice Cream Sandwich-running Toughpad JT-BI is military grade: it’s designed to meet MIL-STD-810G durability certifications and IP-65 specifications for ingress protection. Thus, the Toughpad survives falls, liquid spills, cold, heat and obviously dust.

Under the hood, the specs are decent: Android Ice Cream which will soon be upgraded to Jelly Bean; 7-inch screen with 1024×600 resolution; dual-core TI OMAP 4460 processor clocked at 1.5GHz with 1GB of RAM; 16GB storage of internal storage; a 13 megapixel HD rear camera; 1.3 megapixel front facing camera; a long-lasting 5,720mAh battery; Bluetooth 4.0 connectivity, plus support for 4G LTE/3G.

An exclusive feature of the Toughpad JT-B1 is an app that allows users to customize hardware button functions.

Durability doesn’t come cheap though as the Toughpad is priced at $1,119, an amount that could buy two latest-generation iPad 4 units. The new tablet will hit stores this February.
