BlackBerry Curve ApolloWATERLOO, Canada – The BlackBerry line-up is growing stronger by three this week. New leaks from RIM indicate the Curve and Torch are getting updates, and a new device called Dakota gets introduced. All of these devices will run the new OS 6.1.

The new Curve is an update of the current version, sporting enough processor power and memory to use OS6.1. With the 800MHz processor, 512MB of RAM (still a bit stingy considering the cost and availability of memory), a 5 megapixel camera, Half-VGA 480×360 display, it is more robust than its predecessor. It will also come with GPS, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, a quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE and ┬átri-band UMTS/HSPA radio (capable of 7.2mbps), full QWERTY keyboard and trackpad.

The Dakota is really the new version of the Bold, it will also have the quad-band GSM radio with the tri-band UMTS, with Wi-Fi, 4GB of internal storage with 768MB of RAM, a 2.8″ VGA 640×480 capacitivetouch screen, trackpad and a full QWERTY keyboard. Because it is the flagship device, it has a few more goodies; a 5 megapixel camera with flash, image stabilization, and HD recording; magnetometer, accelerometer, and proximity sensor. It also is Bluetooth capable, and can act as a 3G mobile hotspot.

The BlackBerry Torch series gets a significant update with version 2. The processor now has 1.2GHz in clock-speed, with 8 GB of internal storage and 512MB of RAM, quad-band GSM radio with tri-band HSPA at 14.4mbps. The display is still a capacitive touchscreen, 3.2″ with VGA 650×480 resolution; a 5 megapixel camera with flash, GPS and Bluetooth 2.1 are still in the device with the addition of the magnetometer, accelerometer, proximity sensor and Open GL-ES for new apps. It still has the touchscreen that slides over the fixed full QWERTY keyboard, and the trackpad for options while navigating .
