BlackBerry Bold Touch 9900WATERLOO, CanadaResearch In Motion (RIM) announced that two new versions of the BlackBerry Bold – the 9900 and 9930 – are now ready for the market.

The Bold 9900 and Bold 9930 are the thinnest and most powerful according to the company. Both devices run on the new BlackBerry OS7.

The devices feature the combination of a full QWERTY keyboard with a capacitive touchscreen, increased processor power, near field communications, and support for 4G cellular networks.

“The new BlackBerry Bold smartphones and BlackBerry 7 OS are inspired by millions of customers around the world who want the ultimate combination of performance, functionality and style,” said Mike Lazaridis, President and Co-CEO, Research In Motion. “These fully-loaded and beautifully crafted smartphones offer a highly refined user experience with blazingly fast performance, a brilliant touch screen and an outstanding typing experience”.

The two devices are very similar, with the 9930 tailored for Verizon’s CDMA network and global roaming on GSM/UMTS, the 9900 is a GSM device with HSPA+. The processor is a 1.2GHz version, nearly doubling the speed of the last generation.

The incorporation of Near Field Communications will allow users to take advantage of this new method for using the device to obtain information by tapping an NFC tag.

These devices will be available this summer.
