RIM's BlackBerry PlayBookWATERLOO, Canada – The PlayBook is getting some serious traction, RIM announced that the tablet device will be available for 4G networks in the second half of 2011.

“The BlackBerry PlayBook tablet is already being widely recognized for its superior performance, rich web experience, enterprise readiness and deep support for web standards and open development tools. We are now building on the BlackBerry PlayBook’s many advantages with support for additional 4G networks that will allow enhanced business opportunities for carriers and developers and unparalleled mobile experiences for users,” said Mike Lazaridis, President and Co-CEO at Research In Motion.

These two new versions of the PlayBook join the WI-Fi only and Wi-Fi +WiMax versions already announced. The two new versions for 4G will also support Wi-Fi, allowing the user plenty of options to connect. Each tablet will also support Bluetooth tethering, mobile hotspots like MiFi, and a BlackBerry Bridge. The combinations of connectivity are multiplying, allowing for flexibility with the new device.

The PlayBook promises to provide a true multitasking environment, high fidelity web browsing, support for Adobe Flash, High Definition multimedia, and as expected, out of the box enterprise support.
