BlackBerry 10 foursquare appWATERLOO, Canada – Amidst the growing competition offered by Apple and Samsung, Research in Motion seems to have staked its future entirely on the upcoming BlackBerry 10.

Although RIM’s quarterly fiscal reports aroused the fear of significant losses, its shares have surged by 20-percent following impressive revelations about the new BB10. Now, with enough funds to proceed with its research, it’s believed that RIM will come up with its revamped range of smartphones in early 2013.

BlackBerry Jam Americas 2012 has already revealed several impressive aspects of the BB10. ‘Flow’ is one interesting feature allowing quick access to apps and several phone functions.

New Foursquare and Facebook apps have also been included, while developers have already started creating brand new games for BB10, using the new platform with enhanced mobile graphics capabilities.

In May, a new camera feature called Time Shift was revealed at BlackBerry World, where one can simply snap a photo and alter its appearance using a time scale. BlackBerry 10 brings this concept to reality. Time Shift is also capable of handling multiple faces in one shot and editing specific regions of the photo. The camera app also provides thumbnail previews within the viewfinder, eliminating the need to switch back to the photo app for checking the shots.
