AT&T Launches LG Phoenix, Thrive

AT&T LG PhoenixDALLAS, USA – Currently tagged as AT&T’s first prepay Android smartphone available on the market, the LG Thrive can now be purchased for $179.99.┬áThe standard version of the Thrive, the LG Phoenix is also available for purchase from AT&T for $49.99 with a new two-year agreement.

Specs-wise, both LG Thrive and Phoenix are pretty much the same, and both are LG Optimus One variants.

However, the Thrive will allow GoPhone customers to access Internet data services along with prepaid calling minutes without the requirement of a long-term commitment.

AT&T LG Thrive

AT&T is offering various data packages for the LG Thrive that are priced at $25 for 500 MB, with each additional 10MB costing $5. Also, potential customers can get a cheaper $15 per 100MB plan.

The above data packages include unlimited Wi-Fi usage through AT&T’s Wi-Fi hotspots.

Both LG Thrive and Phoenix come with Android 2.2 Froyo on-board, as well as HSDPA 7.2 Mbps support.

They are powered by similar 600MHz application processors and feature a medium-size 3.2-inch capacitive touchscreen with 262k color support and 320×480 pixels resolution.

Only 160 MB of user memory is available, but both devices have microSD card slots for memory expansion (up to 32GB) and 2GB memory cards included in the sales package.
