MILAN, Italy – ASUS unveiled the PadFone 2, a phone-tablet combo, in an event three days ago.
The successor to the first PadFone, which was launched at the start of the year, brings improvement to the original combo.
The Android powered-phone’s screen now measures 4.7-inch with Super IPS+ technology and 720p HD resolution, encased in a thinner and lighter body. It packs a 1.5GHz quad-core Snapdragon S4 chipset, along with 2GB of RAM. The phone is equipped with a 13MP camera that is able to record in 1080p (full HD). It allows connectivity through LTE, HSPA+ and Wi-Fi. The powerful 2140mAh battery allows up to 16 hours of 3G talk-time and 13 hours of web browsing.
Coming to the 10.1-inch dockable tablet, it has dropped weight and got thinner with a smaller 5000mAh battery that provides up to 36 hours of 3G talk-time together with the smartphone. The apps of the PadFone 2 are optimized as to allow instant transition between phone and tablet modes.
The ASUS PadFone 2 will be available in most European and Asian countries before the end of this year.
