Asus EP90 Windows embedded 7TAIPEI, Taiwan – According to sources, the Asus EP90 tablet, rumoured to run on Windows Embedded 7, may have a launch date of March, 2011.

This story can be given the benefit of doubt as Asus has recently ordered 300 000 units of Tegra 2 dual-core ARM chips, which are highly likely to power the tablet computer. Another addition would be the operating system of the tablet, strongly believed through sources that the Asus handheld will be running on Windows Embedded Compact 7, supposed to provide efficient functioning of tablet computers.

The Asus EP90 will be on par with competition on the features front, the specs being Bluetooth 2.1, HDMI-output, USB ports, GPS, and a built-in webcam. The storage of the device will come in choices of 8GB, 16GB and 32GB, while its battery is expected to last from four to five hours.

The retail cost is still an undisclosed factor at this point of time, but it should be priced correctly in order to compete against the likes of the Apple iPad and Samsung Galaxy Tab.
