Apad (China iPad) is iPad’s Clone, with Google Android
CHINA – In the Chinese market, popular electronic items don’t take long to be cloned and released with weaker cameras and dual SIM slots. In the Apad’s case, it’s an Apple iPad clone with different features, for a much lower price, at US$195.
The Apad doesn’t have a multi-touch 9.7″ touchscreen display, which is the iPad’s strongest feature, it features a 7″ resistive touchscreen with 800×480 pixels in resolution, which may not be very friendly to finger-touch.
It does, however, have a web camera – a feature missing on the iPad – and this can be used for video calls from IM apps.
Google Android 1.5 is the operating system of choice, possibly a limitation, as the 2.1 version would have allowed for the GPS to be used for real navigation. The device further brings Wi-Fi, a microSD memory card slot, USB connectivity, and a 3.5mm audio jack. It is powered by a 600MHz processor, and 125MB of RAM, much weaker components than that on the iPad.
In the end, it does exactly what the iPad does, even though it is missing the quality. The China iPad will be available from the 16th of May, and it is unlikely that it will have any warranty whatsoever.
