LOS ANGELES, USA – Nyko has revealed two new game controllers, PlayPad and PlayPad Pro, for Android devices.
The controllers are connected to a device running on Android 3.0 or higher via Bluetooth. This pair of controllers is designed with the idea to improve the gaming experience on smartphones and tablets.
It’s not the first Android controller in the market – MOGA has one, and the Zeemote JS1 has been selling for a few years already.
Each of the controllers also features tablet stands that holds the device horizontally or vertically in customizable positions. Both controllers work best with Nvidia Tegra 3 devices. Furthermore, Nyko’s free app, Playground, allows input with keyboard, mouse and touch event mapping – reviews at Google Play are mostly negative .
Like regular controllers, each one features four action buttons, home key, mode switch (easy switch between game pad, mouse, iCade and app mode) and shoulder buttons. However, the PlayPad Pro in black includes dual analog sticks, while its little sibling, in black and white, has dual analog sliders.
The battery time of both game-pads is said to be around 25 hours of play time. The Nyko PlayPad costs $39.99 and can be ordered at Nyko’s website.
