Android 4.0 Ported to Samsung Wave S8500

Samsung Wave S8500 Android 4.0 ICS Ice Cream SandwichWARSAW, Poland – XDA recognized developer mikegapinski completed porting Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich to the legacy device Bada-based Samsung Wave S8500.

The low adherence to the Bada platform of Samsung, which was developed as an alternative of the then-popular Symbian operating system by Nokia, left high-end hardware without regular OEM updates, with the latest one being Bada 2.0. There were some attempts to port earlier Android versions on devices such as the Wave S8500, but they were not completed or not fully functional.

As mikegapinski was determined to overcome this challenge and offer a fully-functional Android 4.0 port for everyone using the Samsung Wave S8500, with some donations and support for the project from the Bada community in Poland, he announced the first publicly available port of Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich to the Samsung Wave S8500, with instructions here for any user attempting to carry out this possibly risky procedure.
