CES: Alcatel Renews its One Touch Android Portfolio
LAS VEGAS, USA – At the Consumer Electronics Show, Alcatel announced a smartphone, a phablet and two tablets all renewing its Android-based Alcatel One Touch series.
The Alcatel One Touch POP C9 is a 5.5” phablet that comes with entry level specs. It sports a IPS display with qHD resolution having 200ppi density, and at its core lies a quad-core 1.3GHz processor, probably from MediaTek. It offers 1GB of RAM, 4GB of internal storage along with a provision of microSD for 32GB expandable storage. The phablet will be running on Android 4.2 Jelly Bean.
The camera is a 8MP unit with HD video recording on the rear, and there is a 2MP front-facing camera. In addition, the device offers Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0 and 3G connectivity. The battery, with 2500mAh capacity, is a bit small for a phablet, and allows for 8 hours of talk time on 2G and 4 hours on 3G.
The Alcatel One Touch POP C9 will be available in different colors of Hot Pink, Fresh Turquoise, Cherry Red, Bluish Black and Full White. Users will also get an added choice for the flip covers too.
As the name suggests, the Alcatel One Touch POP7 and POP 8 are 7 and 8-inch screen tablets, respectively.
The Alcatel One Touch POP8 comes with a 1280×800 resolution display and holds a MediaTek chipset (quad-core Cortex-A7 at 1.3GHz), 1GB RAM, and a Mali-400 GPU at its core. The tablet has two cameras – 2MP rear and 0.3MP front-facing. The device offers connectivity through Wi-Fi, 3G, GPS and optionally IR. Users also get a microSD slot for expandable storage.
The Alcatel One Touch POP7 offers a 1024×600 resolution screen. Its camera, storage and connectivity options are same to the POP8 whereas the chipset is altered to a MediaTek MT8312 dual-core Cortex-A7 at 1.3GHz.
The POP7 wil be available at the end of next month, whereas the POP 8 will be seen some time in March.
The Alcatel One Tocuh Idol X+ is a 5.5” phone that offers a 1080p IPS LCD screen with a powerful MediaTek octa-core MT6592 processor (eight Cortex-A7 cores at 2GHz), 2GB RAM, and a PowerVR SGX544 GPU at its heart. Is sports a bigger 13MP camera at the rear and a 2.1MP camera at the front. It also offers 16GB of internal storage.
Measuring just 7.9mm thickness, the Idol X+ is thin enough and the bezels are nicely adjusted on the sides. The battery life is a bit disappointing with just 2500mAh and that too for an octa-core processor. However the finalized price still needs to be announced by Alcatel.
