Acer Liquidmini beTouch E210Consumer Electronics Show, LAS VEGAS, USA – Last week Taiwanese electronics giant Acer announced two new Android 2.2 Froyo devices, the Liquidmini and the beTouch E210.

The new mobile phones will face fierce competition from the already-flooded Android market, but Acer is betting on going entry-level in order to make itself attractive at a lower price point. Smartphones can now be manufactured for less in terms of costs, which should add variety to those who wish to spend less and get more than just mobile broadband.

The Acer Liquidmini is a full-touchscreen device that focuses on a small size with plenty of colours: jet silver, royal blue, piano black, lime green and light pink – probably limited to certain regions in the world. In terms of components, the handset brings a 3.2″ touchscreen display with 480×320 pixels in resolution, a 5 megapixel camera, a microSD memory card slot, and a 600MHz processor powering the smartphone.

The Acer beTouch E210 has a different form factor, dividing itself in a touchscreen and a full QWERTY keyboard, similar to many BlackBerry handsets (except for the touchscreen part). The display itself is quite small at only 2.6″ measured diagonally, with a resolution of 320×240 pixels, a 3.2 megapixel camera, and a weak 418MHz processor.

Both devices will be made available in the UK from the 11th of April, but the price remains unannounced. At this segment, customers could find it for free depending on the mobile phone plans available.
