The major differences in the new smartwatches when compared to its predecessor are that there is no Galaxy tag in the name, and Samsung has based these on Tizen OS, rather than Android. Design-wise Samsung has improved considerably, as both smartwatches are made slimmer and the visible screws are also removed.

However, there is no official announcement regarding whether the original Galaxy Gear apps will work on Tizen, but there should be many apps on launch.

The Samsung Gear 2 will be able to sync with any device running with Android 4.0 and above. The two new smartwatches have better stand-alone functionality than their predecessor, embedding a music player with Bluetooth headphones. Moreover, the Samsung Gear 2 and Samsung Gear 2 Neo include a heart-rate monitor and twice as fast processor with a dual-core 1GHz chipset.

The Gear 2 Neo is lightweight and lacks a camera, in comparison to the Gear 2. Both the smartwatches are believed to hit the markets in April 2014 in different color variants.
