Huawei Unveils Affordable Honor 3X Variant

SHENZHEN, China – Huawei has launched a variant of its Huawei Honor 3X, a mid-end Android smartphone designed to compete against its local rivals, cheaper than the recently-announced Xiaomi Redmi Note.

The Xiaomi Redmi Note was launched last week at a very competitive price, which prompted competitor Huawei to announce an even cheaper smartphone that is a version of the Honor 3X. The heated competition started last year between Huawei’s 3X and Xiaomi’s Hongmi. The former hosted better features but was also priced a bit higher.

Last week Xiaomi launched its Hongmi Note at an even cheaper price then Huawei’s Honor 3X variant from last year. The new Xiaomi Hingmi Note has an even bigger battery capacity with 200mAh extra than the Honor 3X and is priced much cheaper at $161 (998 Yuan) where the 3X currently costs $279. There is another cheaper version of the Hongmi Note priced at $128 (799 Yuan) having less RAM and lower-clocked CPU.

Just within 24 hours after Hongmi Note’s launch, Huawei waiting no longer launched its cheaper version of the Honor 3X priced at 998 Yuan. The new handset has an octa-core MediaTek MT6592M clocked at 1.4GHz, 2GB RAM, 13MP rear camera, 5MP front-facing camera. However, at the moment, the device is compatible with TD-SCDMA, that is limited to China Mobile’s 3G network.
