Google Building a Nexus 8.9 Tablet
MOUNTAIN VIEW, USA – Google is planning to make an entry to the large-sized tablet competition, with at least two Nexus tablets this year.

According to sources, Google is currently working on a Nexus 8.9-inch model and is all set to put it for mass production by this July. This new 8.9-inch tablet from Google will have a display resolution of 2K.
Last year, Android occupied nearly 50% market in the small-medium sized tablet market and now tablet companies are focusing more towards the 8-inch segment with a good expected growth in 2014. The 7-inch segment will also see good growth figures this year as suggested by Digitimes.
Reports say that Google’s release of the 8.9 inch tablet will further motivate other Android tablet makers across the globe to venture into the large-sized tablet segment, who had previously received a mediocre response in this segment. However, how well these companies manage to attract more consumers will depend on Google’s ability to develop attractive Android tablet-only apps and encourage more developers to join the camp.
The 8.9-inch tablet should have a price tag of around $229, and if the search giant releases its Android 5.0 operating system, which it is likely to do so at the I/O event in June, we could see the new OS version too on the tablet screen.
